Archtectural Description

2-1/2-story, gable-roofed dwelling with a side wing, a veranda, a porte-cochere, "Swiss chalet" porch and gable
ornamentation, and scrolled consoles punctuating a row of four closely set windows in the front gable.

Built for John H. Shepard of New York.

Comments

A subsequent owner of La Sata was the Bouvier family. Jackie Bouvier, later the wife of President Kennedy,
visited here as a child during  the summers. La Sata is said to be Native American for "house of peace."
